We run, not just for our own health, but to create awareness and sponsor budding athletes of the State, who are NOT as fortunate as us. Kolkata Ultra (“KU”) is a group of running enthusiasts, who are as passionate and dedicated to the City of Joy, as they are to the sport of Running --- be it marathons, ultras or even shorter track distances.
OUR JOURNEY – the first step, 2018 In 2018 we organized Kolkata Ultra 60K, the first ever Ultra Run of the city and received commendable response. The run took place along the East Kolkata Wetlands, one of the most fragile, yet vibrant eco-systems in the heart of Kolkata, which acts as a natural cleanser of Kolkata. Kolkata Ultra 60K, thus, helped in creating environmental awareness about this Wetland stretch (a ‘RAMSAR’ wetland site), preserve and save it from the hands of land sharks. The run was appreciated by all and was well covered by the Press. OUR JOURNEY – bigger & better in 2019 We were back in 2019 with this flagship event, in a bigger way with a larger reach! We had team relay and solo formats for the challenging 60K distance, with considerable number of registrations from the running community.
